Elaine qualified as a social worker in 1992, and has worked extensively in adult social care, as a social worker, team manager and practice educator. Her main areas of practice were with older people living with dementia, and adults with learning disabilities.
She became a senior lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University in 2007, and currently leads the BA Social Work programme.
Her research interests include assessment, eligibility, safeguarding and self-neglect, and she is author of the Assessments in Social Work with Adults (Social Work Pocketbooks, 2012).
