Section 22 – Identifying children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities

Introduction

This section, which came into force on 1 September 2014, places an obligation on an English local authority proactively to identify all children and young people in its area who have, or may have, special educational needs. Additionally, it also imposes an obligation to identify all children and young people with a disability.
