Introduction

This guide sets out how strengths-based practice is embodied in English social care legislation through the Care Act 2014, specifically through the principle of wellbeing, set out in section 1 of the Care Act, and also through the legislation’s other measures on prevention, assessment, determining eligibility, and the making and reviewing of care and support plans.
