Beryl Palmer is a registered social worker working as a social care consultant specialising in services for d/Deaf, deafblind and sight impaired people and people with autistic spectrum disorder. She has over 20 years’ experience working in local authority sensory and autism services.
In 2019, Beryl left her full-time job as a local authority manager of sensory and autism services to study sophrology, and has since set up her own sophrology business (a wellbeing service) for health and social care staff, teaching them techniques to help them manage stress, anxiety, and improve sleep.
This guide provides an awareness and understanding of the complexities of deafblindness, the signs to look out for that can help identify it and guidance on the areas to pay particular attention to during an assessment.
