Sarah Galvani is professor of social research and substance use at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Her research and practice interests focus on marginalised groups of people who additionally use alcohol and other drugs. Currently her work focuses on palliative and end-of-life care for people using substances as well as on substance use and culturally appropriate responses within minority communities.
Her research and teaching has also focused on domestic and sexual abuse, child to parent violence, substance use and mental ill health.
