Steven Richards

Steven is a director of Edge Training and Consultancy (www.edgetraining.org.uk) and delivers training on the Mental Capacity Act and deprivation of liberty to health and social care professionals around the country.

He is also a Mental Health Act reviewer with the Care Quality Commission and a specialist advisor for CQC in relation to the Mental Capacity Act.

Steven has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years, both for the NHS and the voluntary sector and has represented directly before the Court of Protection.

Steven is the co-author of three books: Working with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 - 2nd edition (ISBN: 978-0-9552349-3-4); Working with the Mental Health Act – 3rd edition (ISBN: 978-0-9552349-4-1); and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Handbook – 1st edition (ISBN: 978-0-9931324-0-7).
