Section 51 – Failure to maintain

Introduction

This section makes it a criminal offence for a person persistently to refuse or neglect to maintain him or herself if that results in the person being provided with accommodation under part III of this act. Prosecutions are rare. The maximum penalty for the offence is three months’ imprisonment and/or a fine.
