Scott Yates

Dr Scott Yates is associate professor in psychosocial studies at De Montfort University. He has a PhD in psychology. Previous research topics relating to young people and families include education and employment, chronic illness and disability, and youth work. His most recent work has focused on the experiences and needs of families where a parent has a mental illness.

With Dr Lina Gatsou he developed Think Family - Whole Family (Parental Mental Illness) multi-agency training for professionals working with children and families affected by parental mental illness. The family intervention draws on behavioural family therapy principles and techniques to training the workforce to work holistically with the whole family.
